Coventry Building Society Arena Signs Three-Year Sustainability Deal with Tom White Waste Management

Coventry Building Society Arena has agreed a three-year deal with local waste management specialist Tom White to support its sustainability, recycling and environmental performance.

The deal will include recycling and waste management operations throughout the venue, across its calendar of live sport, entertainment and business events.

Tom White, which operates a recycling facility opposite the Arena, secured the contract following a competitive tender process.

Tom White Waste Management will support daily operational waste management, including general waste, mixed recycling, glass and food waste. It will also provide scale-up support for matchdays, live concerts and major exhibitions, including close monitoring and monthly reporting to ensure the Arena’s waste streams remain sustainable.

The announcement of the three-year deal follows a major summer for Coventry Building Society Arena, which welcomed almost 100,000 people across three nights as Take That brought The Circus Live to the venue.

Tom White Waste Management provided additional support for the concerts, with two compactors, an RCV truck and driver installed on site, supporting the Arena team by emptying bins and managing waste during the event. A total of 30.2 tonnes of waste was removed from site across the Take That concerts.

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving environmental performance, Tom White will encourage even greater waste segregation at upcoming events to maximise recycling, increase resource recovery and further reduce the volume of waste sent to EfW.

Tom Davies, Head of Supply and Sustainability at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “We’re pleased to be working with the team at Tom White Waste Management as they

understand the demands of operating a busy, 365-day-a-year venue like ours. Their data monitoring and reporting will be crucial as we work towards becoming the most sustainable stadium in the West Midlands.”

The deal with Coventry Building Society Arena comes as Tom White Waste Management

continues to invest in its own operations. This has included the completion of a major plant extension, delivering a significant increase in processing capacity and allowing the facility to handle substantially higher volumes of waste.

Tracy Bryan, Director of Operations at Tom White, said: “We are incredibly proud to be partnering with the Coventry Building Society Arena on this three-year deal. Sustainability is at the core of what we do at Tom White, and we look forward to working closely with the Arena team to support their environmental goals and set new standards for waste management in the region.”
