Our Sustainability Partnership
A Greener Future
At Coventry Building Society Arena, weβre passionate about hosting unforgettable live events, world-class sport, and dynamic business conferences.
Now, weβre taking a bold step toward a sustainable future. In an exciting new partnership with E.ON, weβre set to transform our energy use and lead the way in decarbonisationβnot just for our venue, but for the whole of Coventry.
Driving Change Through Collaboration
Our collaboration with E.ON builds on the 15-year Strategic Energy Partnership already established between E.ON and Coventry City Council. Together, we are committed to reducing carbon emissions and developing renewable energy solutions that will benefit our community and inspire local businesses to follow suit.
Paul Michael, Managing Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, explains:
βOur partnership with E.ON isnβt only about making our own venue as sustainable as possible, itβs about making a real difference in Coventry too and inspiring communities and other businesses to think critically about their use of energy.β
What This Partnership Means for Coventry Building Society Arena
Over the next three years, we will work closely with E.ON to:
Map Out Low-Carbon Solutions: In the first phase, weβll identify opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint. This includes exploring the installation of solar panels on our roof to harness renewable energy.
Enhance Visitor Experience: We plan to introduce accessible electric vehicle charging points on-site, making it easier for visitors to travel sustainably.
Upgrade Our Infrastructure: In subsequent phases, we will assess improvements to our heating and cooling systemsβpotentially eliminating gas usage in favor of renewable energy sources.
By implementing these measures, weβre not only reducing our own emissions, but weβre also setting a benchmark for sustainability in the events and sports industry.
βOur 15-year Energy Partnership aims to transform Coventry with locally generated green energy, fuelling a thriving green economy, and driving innovation toward a net zero future.
This partnership between E.ON and the Coventry Building Society Arena is a real demonstration of how partnerships like this are establishing the city as a leader in sustainability and community-focused initiatives.
Working towards net zero is vital for everyone and Coventry is already a leader here with our plans for innovative solutions ranging from Greenpower Park to battery industrialisation; an award-winning state-of-the-art materials recycling facility; Coventry Very Light Rail; becoming an all-electric bus city; increasing the number of on-street chargers; creating a cycle-superhighway network and now the decarbonisation of the CBS Arena.β
