Doing Our Part for a Greener Future

Welcome to the sustainability page for Coventry Building Society Arena, where our commitment to a greener future is at the forefront of our operations.

Beyond just being a world-class venue for sports and entertainment, the Coventry Building Society Arena recognizes the crucial role it plays in setting sustainable standards for large-scale venues.

Our dedication to eco-friendly practices is reflected in our infrastructure, partnerships, and community engagements. We believe that through collaborative efforts and a shared sense of responsibility, we can create lasting impacts that benefit not just our immediate surroundings, but the world at large.

Sustainable Innovations at Coventry Building Society Arena

Notpla Packaging

Notpla provides organic packaging, made using seaweed, that is biodegradable and home-compostable.

One Cup

A 'One Cup' initiative, allowing guests to enjoy their drinks in reusable cups, free of charge, and responsibly return them to designated bins for cleaning and reuse.

Vegware

Vegware offers a range of compostable, plant-based packaging for hot and cold food & drink delivery.

Fairfields Farm Crisps

Fairfield Farm Crisps generates energy on-site through sustainable methods such as anaerobic digestion and solar power.

Waste Management

In collaboration with Go Green, we meticulously track our waste to ensure its proper disposal. With live data at our fingertips, we make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Over the past quarter, we have successfully recycled approximately 70.245 tons of waste - that's equivalent to 59 Ford Fiestas (2018 model)! This has enabled us to repurpose 95.1% of our waste.

We've boosted our efforts by adding 34 more recycling and general waste bins around the venue. To make it user-friendly, clear signage indicates what goes where. And we're not stopping there. We're in the process of redesigning our external bin setup to better accommodate large-scale cardboard recycling, food waste composting, and optimize non-hazardous waste collections.

Retail Innovations

Beginning this season, we are adopting 'One Cup', a reusable cup initiative, to serve our fans. With zero extra charges, our guests can enjoy their beverages and responsibly dispose of their cups in designated bins for washing and reusing.

We're excited to introduce Notpla and Vegware as our packaging partners. Notpla, winner of the "Earth Shot Prize," offers fully compostable seaweed-coated packaging. Vegware, on the other hand, provides cutlery and containers made from sustainable wooden composite or plant-based materials.

Also, to further cut down on plastic, we're switching to bottled condiments instead of single-use sachets.

We're proud to associate with Fairfield's, our new crisp supplier. Fairfield's are fourth-generation farmers who embody sustainability in their business practices. Check out their sustainability practices here.

As part of our energy-saving initiative, we are promoting the practice of switching off non-essential equipment when not in use. Moreover, you will see more signage informing about our sustainability efforts throughout the venue.

Sustainable Supply Chain

We are taking local sourcing to the next level. Part of our boardroom menu will be sourced from within a 15-mile radius of the venue. We'll be proud to share their story and promote them on our social media.

Our commitment extends to our suppliers. We are collating sustainability data from all core suppliers to make sure they're walking the green walk too. We're also consolidating deliveries to reduce CO2 emissions from unnecessary transport.
