An award-winning Nuneaton family-run butchers has struck up a prime partnership to meet demand for high quality produce at Coventry Building Society Arena.

Frank Parker Butchers, based on Abbey Green, is now supplying thousands of sausages and burgers to the stadium to support matchdays, business events and major live events.

The building was originally purchased by Frank’s grandfather in 1896 and is now run by four generations of the same family.

Coventry Building Society Arena has built a relationship with Frank Parker Butchers over the last six months and it is continuing to grow its association.

The butchers, which employs 26 full-time staff, is set to provide around 30,000 handmade burgers when Take That perform live at the stadium for three nights in June.

The burgers are made on site at the Nuneaton shop using brisket and other carefully selected cuts of beef, sourced from a small number of trusted farms, both locally and in Scotland.

Coventry City fans can enjoy the burgers in the concourse on a matchday, which is a source of pride for the butchers with two of its directors being season ticket holders for the Sky Blues.

The link with Frank Parker Butchers comes as part of the Arena’s commitment to work with local suppliers, reduce food miles, boost the regional economy and enhance the quality of its catering offer for visitors.

Coventry Building Society Arena’s catering operation is managed in-house, giving the venue the flexibility to build strong relationships with local businesses, with the aim of continuously improving its food and beverage provision.

Frank, aged 84, is still working six days a week in the business as Managing Director having started working in the shop aged 11. He now works alongside his children and grandchildren, with great-grandchildren now involved during busy seasonal periods.

He said: “Quality has always been the main focus of our business and that is what has built our trade over many generations.

“We have a lovely customer base and we are very proud to now be supplying Coventry Building Society Arena, we see it as a compliment to our work and the standards we always seek to maintain.

“It’s already an excellent part of our trade as a business and we are looking forward to continuing to strengthen the relationship.

“We take great pride in providing the very best product and we are confident that the crowd will sing even louder at the Arena when they have one of our burgers!”

Alan Diaz, Head of Concessions at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “We started working with Frank Parker Butchers at the beginning of the football season and we were immediately impressed with the quality of the product.

“It has presented the opportunity for us to work with one of the area’s most well-known and established family businesses. It is an institution in Nuneaton and people travel from all over the town and surrounding areas to visit the shop.

“We’re proud to continue to support family-run local businesses that can help to elevate our catering offer to a new level.”
