Multi-million pound investment in Coventry Building Society Arena to be showcased

A multi-million pound investment is leading Coventry Building Society Arena into an exciting new chapter in the venue’s development.

The world-class exhibition, event and conference centre is exhibiting at The Meetings Show on June 29/30 as a sole venue for the first time in its 20 plus-year history.

Coventry Building Society Arena sees one-and-a-half-million visitors pass through its doors on average annually. A major new 10-year naming rights deal came into effect in July 2021, from which point the venue has been known as Coventry Building Society Arena.

On stand number C74 the Arena will be showcasing the £6.3 million investment which is being made to create its new state-of-the-art Commonwealth Convention Centre.

The Commonwealth Convention Centre features a breath-taking glass pavilion gateway and works have seen a major refurbishment of 1,750 square metres of conference and exhibition space in the lower halls.

The project has also seen the lower halls connected seamlessly with the rest of the venues, giving organisers access to 7,750 square metres of space – including the also newly refurbished main Exhibition Halls.

It has been funded with £3.8 million granted to the venue by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP), which secured the funding through the West Midlands Combined Authority as part of the Government’s Getting Building Fund.

The Anecdote sports bar has also opened its doors in the last year, boosting the venue’s hospitality, food and drink offering.

Staff from The Anecdote will join the Coventry Building Society Arena team on stand C74, with Warwickshire-based Purity Brewing Co. beers and cocktails being served from 3.30pm on Wednesday, June 29.

Jenni Ford, Head of Sales at Coventry Building Society, is one of the team hosting the stand on the 29th June. She said: “We have a new name and a new look and we want to show and tell everyone about our venue! 

“We can't wait to welcome visitors to stand C74 which we hope to stand out from the crowd after taking up a solo stand for the first time in our history.

“Coventry Building Society Arena has had an exceptional year, throughout which we've remained true to our moto ‘Our Venue - Your Home’, with clients returning to us year after year. 

“The venue has come alive with sell-out events such as the MOBO Awards and performances from world-famous bands such as The Killers and The Specials.  We're a host venue for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and also the Rugby League World Cup this year, so there's lots to look forward to.

“We want to treat our visitors to a Purity Beer or cocktail and look forward to welcoming lots of friends old and new to stand C74.”
