Beyond the Arena: Jo’s Brooks Volunteering Story
Jo Brooks, Purchase Ledger Assistant at Coventry Building Society Arena
We’re shining a spotlight on the incredible community work our team delivers beyond Coventry Building Society Arena.
Jo Brooks, Purchase Ledger Assistant, is a key member of our finance team behind the scenes at the Arena. But you may recognise Jo from her role as a EnV City Host!
She supports events across Coventry as a volunteer and first became involved during the UK City of Culture celebration. Jo has supported an incredible 53 events across 83 shifts!
From the opening and closing ceremonies of the City of Culture year, to supporting as a volunteer at events right here at the Arena such as Paul Smith and Bob Dylan.
She’s set to volunteer at this year’s Coventry Half Marathon on Sunday 19 April, so say hello if you see here out on the route!
Jo says volunteering gave her a new appreciation for Coventry its history and she enjoys meeting new people and being able to share what’s happening locally with others in the community.
Jo Brooks: “It’s all about giving back to the community. When events were happening across the city, it was great to be part of that and help people experience them.
“I’ve met some great friends through volunteering - it really does feel like a family community.
“I still get involved where I can, even if I can’t take as many shifts as I once did. I’d definitely encourage others to look into volunteering with EnV.”
