THRILLS AND SPILLS FOR RUGBY FANS ON SUNDAY

Top-class European Rugby returns to the Ricoh Arena this Sunday as Wasps welcome Bath in the European Champions Cup (kick-off 5.15pm).

Dai Young’s men will need to overcome the sizeable challenge of Premiership finalists Bath at the Ricoh Arena this Sunday, as Wasps aim to make it three wins from three in Europe, following wins over Leinster and reigning champions Toulon last month in the first leg.

Bath have already visited the Ricoh Arena in the Aviva Premiership back in October, when Wasps emerged 16-9 winners. Both sides will have their World Cup internationals back for Sunday’s European battle.

And fans attending this eagerly-anticipated European clash have the chance to enjoy not only the rugby, but also all the fun of the fair in the Fan Village ahead of the late afternoon kick-off.

Fairground rides, including dodgems, have been set-up for the Rouge-themed Christmas parties taking place at the Ricoh Arena this year and will be available for rugby supporters to hop aboard free of charge, so there’s lots to look forward to for the whole family when the Fan Village opens at 1.30pm.

Rob Mitchell, Head of Marketing at Wasps and the Ricoh Arena, said the European Rugby Champions Cup was creating a great deal of excitement among supporters after the team had recorded an exciting start to this year’s competition.

“As fans, it has been exciting to watch the start the squad has made in the competition, winning against two giants of European rugby in Leinster and Toulon, but the challenge gets no easier with the Premiership finalists coming to Coventry on Sunday,” he said.

“We now face Bath Rugby in our third game in Europe’s top rugby competition, which will be quickly followed by the return tie in Bath the following Saturday.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to come along to the Ricoh Arena on Sunday to cheer on the team, in a game which we are expecting to be extremely tough but also very exciting.

“Our Fan Village in the Jaguar Hall is an ideal location for pre-match entertainment, with other European rugby matches on the big screen, fairground rides and a host of children’s activities, so it should be a great day out with friends and family.

“It should be great fun and in the countdown to Christmas, it is ideally timed because our Christmas Party ‘Rouge’ theme in the Jaguar Hall has created a real festive feeling.

“The kiosks will be open for refreshments and food and there will also be an inflatable assault course and the Wasps Interactive Zone for young and old to enjoy themselves and complement the top-class rugby on the pitch.”

Tickets are available from £15 for adults and under-10s go free from www.wasps.co.uk or by ringing 024 7678 6411.
