NSPCC BALL SET TO CREATE FUNDRAISING RECORD

The 10th anniversary of the NSPCC Ball in Coventry and Warwickshire looks set to create a new fundraising record for the event after all the tickets have been sold.

Nearly 680 tickets have been snapped up for the Great Gatsby-themed evening in the E.ON Lounge at the Ricoh Arena on Friday, September 26.

Over £100,000 was raised at the 2013 ball and organisers are confident a new record-breaking total will be reached this year.

One of the UK’s top 1920s bands, Jivin Miss Daisy, will be providing the entertainment following a three-course dinner, silent auction and live auction.

Guests will also be able to take part in the Precious Stones Challenge to win a diamond ring, pearl and gold ear-rings and emerald and diamond ear-rings which will be hidden in small chocolate boxes.

Organiser Hamilton Bland said the NSPCC Ball was always well supported but this year’s figure was its best yet.

“We have sold over 100 more tickets than in 2013 which is simply tremendous and speaks volumes for the generosity of the business community in Coventry and Warwickshire,” he said.

“The NSPCC Ball usually generates one of the highest number of guests in the E.ON Lounge each year and this year it is going to be no different.

“It is the first time we have sold our ticket allocation and to have achieved the feat so quickly emphasises how highly the NSPCC dinner is regarded since everyone who attends knows they are supporting a local charity.

“All the money raised from the event is used by the NSPCC in Coventry to help children in the city.

“This is our 10th anniversary and we have booked an authentic swing and jazz band, Jivin Miss Daisy, who are certain to provide fantastic entertainment.

“Many guests automatically re-book every year and we are confident this is going to the highest amount we have raised for the charity.”

Liz Cooper, marketing director of the Ricoh Arena, said Coventry and Warwickshire’s business community was to be admired for generously supporting the NSPCC Ball once again.

“Guests who work at global companies as well as SMEs attend the ball and to have sold such a huge number of tickets three weeks before the event is testimony to the hard work of the NSPCC Coventry and Warwickshire Business Group,” she said.

“It is always a fantastic evening and we are proud to be hosting the ball once again since it raises such a large amount of money to help a charity which is focused on working to prevent child cruelty.”
