Brides-to-be in the Midlands are being given a golden opportunity to feature in a hit reality TV programme.

Say Yes To The Dress – a programme where brides are fitted out with their perfect wedding dress – is sending its producers to the UK National Midland Wedding Show at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on January 21 and 22, 2017 to search for participants.

The show is hugely popular in America and after a successful first series airing in the UK earlier this year, producers are now on the lookout for its next set of brides to take part in series two.

Successful participants will have their own wedding dress picked by famous fashion designer David Emanuel, who designed the wedding dress worn by Princess Diana in 1981.

Wayne Littlewood, show organiser of the UK National Midland Wedding Show, is urging as many people as possible to take part.

He said: “Every year we hear hundreds of brides longing for their own personal stylist, and now our show is able to offer them that opportunity for the first time. All our visitors need to do is turn up and tell the producers their story.”

Say Yes To The Dress first aired in the USA in 2007 and has made 14 series, following the story of brides searching for the perfect wedding dress. Common themes include overcoming personal difficulties, overwhelming advice from friends and sticking to a particular budget.

The TV programme’s visit to Coventry comes after a strong period of growth for the UK National Midland Wedding Show, which has been at the Ricoh Arena since 2014, and plays host to 100 exhibitors including florists, bridal wear, car companies, musicians and beauticians.

Over the past three years, the number of visitors has grown by 20 per cent each year, topping the 5,000 mark.

Wayne added: “To have global TV programmes wanting to attend our event proves how far we’ve come in growing the wedding show. It is fantastic news.

“It’s been the perfect combination of hosting the show in a convenient location, while ensuring there is a real mixture of stands so it reflects everything you need for a wedding day.

“We usually get new trends emerging at our shows every year. We’re seeing an increase in more beauty products such as facial creams, as well as mirrors that take pictures.”

Andy Gibb, managing director at the Ricoh Arena, believes the growth of the UK National Midland Wedding Show is encouraging news for the events and exhibition industry.

He said: “This is well deserved recognition for the UK National Midland Wedding Show, which has been growing in popularity every year.

“The arrival of renowned TV programmes like this helps to put our region on the map. We look forward to welcoming everybody over the two days.”
